WIP Binding going on!!

Well the binding is going onto the Petite Street quilt. So happy with how this is turning out!

Love the quilting grid pattern. Have to say though, a few lines had to be unpicked at the beginning as my tension was off a bit! Frustrating!

Anyhow, as I said in an earlier post, this quilt is destined for my Etsy Shop/ Market and as such I have been minute by minute timing myself. And it's taken longer than I thought it would! So a few questions for my quilting readers. How long would a toddler size quilt take you to make? And if you make to sell, what hourly rate do you factor in? Just interested as to what others do really.

Hoping to finish today. So will post the finished quilt tomorrow.

Market Money Apron

I have another market tomorrow to sell my wares and it reminded me that I had not yet shared on here, the little money apron I made myself for the last one.  I decided to appliqué my new logo onto it and use all the colours!

Love the way it turned out! I have popped a business card in there so you can compare the logos!

Here is a close up of the sewing machine!

It has two zipped pockets, each divided into sections.  The front one has two sections for coins.  The back one has three sections: one for a pen; a notepad; and for money notes.

And one more picture just for luck!

Have a lovely day!

W.I.P. Petite Street HST Baby Quilt

Today I got to spend some time working with the cute Petite Street Fabric that I had made the half square triangle stack I shared a while back and asked for some guidance on which design layout to go with! Well I decided, with your help, to go with option 2, triangles!

So today I pieced it together.  So pleased with the outcome.  I love the modern simplicity of it.

Also worked hard on achieving seam accuracy to get my points to meet up perfectly and am really happy with the outcome.  Best I've done yet I think!!

Have planned to quilt it like this one over at Red Pepper Quilts.  Love the look and think it complements HSTs really well.  Thanks Rita!

This one will be ending up in my Etsy Shop, so watch this space!

Another WTF Card!

Just love using this fun sentiment for Forty and Fifty cards!  I used two challenges to make this card: Color Throwdown and Retro Sketches.

I have to say that I really struggled with the colour combination and ended up adding the black to create a more dramatic, comic book effect to match the image.

Here are the two challenges:

Oh What a Dilemma! Help Needed!

Well I was all sorted with the layout of the Petite Street Quilt until I made the mistake of asking my husband what he thought of it.  You know when people pause for a split second longer than normal before they reply and you just know they hate it!  Doesn't really matter what comes out of their mouths after that does it, it's too late.  So I turn to the knowledgeable quilting readers out there to ask for advice.  I have played around with these HSTs and now have 8 options which I NEED opinions on, so PLEASE comment!!

Option 1: The Diagonal Stripe

Option 2: Triangles

Option 3: Pinwheels

Option 4: Diamonds

Option 5: The Wonky Zig Zag

Option 6: Ribboned Pin-wheel

Option 7: Simple Star

Option 8: Complex Star
Other suggestions gladly received!

A Rainbow Finish and some W.I.P.

Finally finished up the Hidden Squares Rainbow Cushion.  More pleased with it than I thought.  Still not sure that it has a place in our home, so not sure it's a keeper, watch this space on that one!  However I am totally pleased with learning the paper piecing technique.  And quilting such nice squares (I used washi tape to keep the distance equal and the lines nice and straight).  It worked a treat!

Years ago I had seen a beautiful quilt that had been quilted with rainbow variegated thread on a black background.  It looked stunning so I bought some of the thread.  I think this may be the first time I have used it on fabric.

And now for the W.I.P.  I bought a fat quarter bundle of Petite Street a while ago and split it with a friend.  Yesterday I decided to cut into it and make some large HSTs.  My finished blocks will be 8 inch square and are to be used for a baby quilt.  My favourite has to be the cloud fabric! Planning to put that on the back, and bind with the pink and white spots.

Hidden Squares Cushion all Quilted

Finally managed to find five minutes to quilt the paper pieced rainbow squares cushion and post it on here!

I decided to quilt a square of each colour around. Then used some variegated thread to do a few squares bordering around the square and then the remaining squares black.  I liked the framed look it gives.

Now just got to decide what colour to bind it or aqua? Or other suggestions welcome...

It was lovely to get a bit of time to work on something that isn't for work. To be honest I don't know if I even want to keep this cushion! But it was good to try a new technique. :-)
