So a while ago I saw this really cute image of Olaf from Frozen on the front of a kids magazine. He was holding his head way above his body and I thought that's how most kids feel, they just want to be taller! So I thought the image would be great on a Growth Chart.<br />
<br />
This is what I came up with!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiCiOhGjWfe4NCK24W873Q5Xn10RVBryHGe2Z7CIhaUR3X5ohv487GjWCVpQL3jGUGdD_tRm44N7SlBQoNcLSumb-G2lMxwr5r70WVBjb6aFi18aDHs_uxCX5WoOBsDzDCTTrRs4hUMHU/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+DIY+Olaf+Growth+Chart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiCiOhGjWfe4NCK24W873Q5Xn10RVBryHGe2Z7CIhaUR3X5ohv487GjWCVpQL3jGUGdD_tRm44N7SlBQoNcLSumb-G2lMxwr5r70WVBjb6aFi18aDHs_uxCX5WoOBsDzDCTTrRs4hUMHU/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+DIY+Olaf+Growth+Chart.jpg" height="400" width="215" /></a></div>
<br />
Materials:<br />
<br />
Felt: Turquoise; brown; black, white sparkle and orange<br />
A Tape measure<br />
Some snowflake ribbon to hang it up with.<br />
<br />
I used felt for all of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc4IYnOd42L05v4D85egcXMXpPs09mTk8fuL8jN6M80Ndly8IifQe-zOcSzzi0F6XNdvxYGnc6TmQeBM7mfN40U0BbgHOl3_AjtR53oQ-y5mdE-VUIITYmza-KAdZFL0AHv3MIG-aaGd8/s1600/DSC_0355.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc4IYnOd42L05v4D85egcXMXpPs09mTk8fuL8jN6M80Ndly8IifQe-zOcSzzi0F6XNdvxYGnc6TmQeBM7mfN40U0BbgHOl3_AjtR53oQ-y5mdE-VUIITYmza-KAdZFL0AHv3MIG-aaGd8/s1600/DSC_0355.JPG" height="312" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut all the pieces out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyAmVxe2DAS0BEqX31AR_6DgBxn_99KQ6V8fL2cB8Lpo1RmW_Rbs6O77Vw2c9fyVNPNGZKB1jAXy8KABfnIcr-jtS1exXQHMkkre_V32gw2CkkO9mb1xocd9_gClf_VITP8jdxc2qTm6I/s1600/DSC_0357.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyAmVxe2DAS0BEqX31AR_6DgBxn_99KQ6V8fL2cB8Lpo1RmW_Rbs6O77Vw2c9fyVNPNGZKB1jAXy8KABfnIcr-jtS1exXQHMkkre_V32gw2CkkO9mb1xocd9_gClf_VITP8jdxc2qTm6I/s1600/DSC_0357.JPG" height="125" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So you get a nice little pile of felt goodies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzDAiGJWJC-rb7Z-ciAITXSEB0F4Eb2LSY8KTGBMNwgWP_pigrwbLtyj0ojp5sghGUmGvMo6B74-V-kqSn35_ZAGQZprtxmePflRL-Qy4BV0084YH8YP0A3T2V0ChaYoKu_fU6iyK2svg/s1600/DSC_0358.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzDAiGJWJC-rb7Z-ciAITXSEB0F4Eb2LSY8KTGBMNwgWP_pigrwbLtyj0ojp5sghGUmGvMo6B74-V-kqSn35_ZAGQZprtxmePflRL-Qy4BV0084YH8YP0A3T2V0ChaYoKu_fU6iyK2svg/s1600/DSC_0358.JPG" height="310" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Position them and pin them in place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixanvqu-ypO-rNVpMvB65l_GBUpLTCujGGD3TdDkB3TsMIffmRi89Xc5y2SO_Yy3HDOgsVGlurJ7B00zHoAHHFHfUJcvBYu5irTJfxXcbZ-Li3rETcmWuWsKkqFu6gelr37K-_KQ7aZV0/s1600/DSC_0359.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixanvqu-ypO-rNVpMvB65l_GBUpLTCujGGD3TdDkB3TsMIffmRi89Xc5y2SO_Yy3HDOgsVGlurJ7B00zHoAHHFHfUJcvBYu5irTJfxXcbZ-Li3rETcmWuWsKkqFu6gelr37K-_KQ7aZV0/s1600/DSC_0359.JPG" height="400" width="378" /></a></div>
<br />
Attach your tape measure, I cut mine so it started at 40cm I think and finished at 150cm. I pegged this in place with the side facing up that has both inches and cm on it as there was a nice black line running down the centre that I could stitch on. Plus a lot of people in the UK still work in imperial method of measurement.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYnFD2suotxsxdfSgnUs2f8__dZBtz1ttmnQgwr6oLKVxCO-fTqF3cZk4JGVBzd3U4mb3S5grP8ox0uNoHrxeyCnvuvnlJzxDakUvOPuCTlM6bzp2Lv5Fr8GeHYgT-CfIIJe7_xHN67Bw/s1600/DSC_0360.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYnFD2suotxsxdfSgnUs2f8__dZBtz1ttmnQgwr6oLKVxCO-fTqF3cZk4JGVBzd3U4mb3S5grP8ox0uNoHrxeyCnvuvnlJzxDakUvOPuCTlM6bzp2Lv5Fr8GeHYgT-CfIIJe7_xHN67Bw/s1600/DSC_0360.JPG" height="326" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOcN6MrPEjUSh_tRirkuX99mWnWg_MlGebCVTSGv-lJN8LVGnQF2nTHUANV2groUjTBdwKx11WBSWEh4scvC8T8sQoMQ7qG4zFpm3WdROhkTozfy_YFoeZuObkNMrsQ_eIKJMl40z7IRI/s1600/DSC_0362.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOcN6MrPEjUSh_tRirkuX99mWnWg_MlGebCVTSGv-lJN8LVGnQF2nTHUANV2groUjTBdwKx11WBSWEh4scvC8T8sQoMQ7qG4zFpm3WdROhkTozfy_YFoeZuObkNMrsQ_eIKJMl40z7IRI/s1600/DSC_0362.JPG" height="400" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
Now stitch all your pieces in place! I found that working with larger pieces of felt was tricky and sometimes it puckered.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirCbLySTPRuzU0mIFZQsEKyvBSDh3C6HXbNJBbkc4CnifJyqW2kDLO2kr23VXkHE-DcjkzA9TTcD8puMzIUnF18_q5FN_CC_1yPQRvTthpy8OurKIuiwLNf0AZd1JktrwKfl-TaTrwsko/s1600/DSC_0366.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirCbLySTPRuzU0mIFZQsEKyvBSDh3C6HXbNJBbkc4CnifJyqW2kDLO2kr23VXkHE-DcjkzA9TTcD8puMzIUnF18_q5FN_CC_1yPQRvTthpy8OurKIuiwLNf0AZd1JktrwKfl-TaTrwsko/s1600/DSC_0366.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I then sewed another piece of turquoise felt to the back to cover the stitching and secured the ribbon in place in between. Then I used some scalloped pinking shears to trim the edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFqv9EeWR2uJsRTWS41Lz89MofNz2dX0B2Msar_nwp59pPhfcdRHGxdCqEzT_bEuXTOw8kanEOye1UUmyNZ8Ej0b9Mve2iQBGktg6ENLVOOaRDTY0D41_lGCw8BsNtIn9pFMGj4f6t-w0/s1600/DSC_0494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFqv9EeWR2uJsRTWS41Lz89MofNz2dX0B2Msar_nwp59pPhfcdRHGxdCqEzT_bEuXTOw8kanEOye1UUmyNZ8Ej0b9Mve2iQBGktg6ENLVOOaRDTY0D41_lGCw8BsNtIn9pFMGj4f6t-w0/s1600/DSC_0494.JPG" height="400" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was really happy with the end result. I made two little pegs with snowflakes and initials on so my niece and nephew can plot their heights! Hope they like it.<br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by.</div>

Yes it is getting closer to Christmas!! So to market today I took along some sweet Christmas Stockings. I will be listing these on Etsy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigpWLAHfiL36Fkmkhq6s7mYHfsJNyCjU08Jzd85hzAfuKAN7bT2n5SGMLRJZ5bFwTYLQCUrEZr8j3Wp4YUAH8Et6jUeIDVncCa5cMWhbpNsMxDs6FwI8iADF9FUWA55G5VJxsYw-o3ErQ/s1600/Crafty+Nomad.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigpWLAHfiL36Fkmkhq6s7mYHfsJNyCjU08Jzd85hzAfuKAN7bT2n5SGMLRJZ5bFwTYLQCUrEZr8j3Wp4YUAH8Et6jUeIDVncCa5cMWhbpNsMxDs6FwI8iADF9FUWA55G5VJxsYw-o3ErQ/s1600/Crafty+Nomad.jpg" height="342" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
They have a chalkcloth label on the cuff so you can write a short message or the recipient's name. I have used a grey linen for the body of the stocking and then added a bright cuff. I have lined them with a simple white cotton. I love all the different Christmas fabrics that are on the market, so this way I get to showcase them against the lovely grey linen.<br />
<br />
I'm also planning to personalise some of them with the recipient's initial on the body of the stocking using the same fabric as the cuff. Think that will work well.<br />
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
My sister lives near Stratford-upon-Avon (UK) and has just finished renovating a barn conversion that is to be rented out as a holiday let. The result of all their hard work is truly stunning. You can see it <a href="https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/3795515" target="_blank">here</a>. If you are ever on holiday that way I heartily recommend it!! Naturally!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://a1.muscache.com/pictures/50483227/large.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://a1.muscache.com/pictures/50483227/large.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the dining table is an oilcloth tablecloth with little chickens on it. My sister gave me the offcuts, so I made it into a string of curved bunting that I thought she could hang in the house somewhere.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRPnS6zSlLe5AOF_fPNJBm_q3PuA3H2QSoeL-PeZeZI2LEF9JK28F6MjI0SYcYqWfv-e1iF78HRrXYDSHpD0XK-9KwBgaekk7SSREeqlNxsIvNYI6WmC-9xCrh4SyP6iTSN0LjyQHH9p8/s1600/DSC_0435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRPnS6zSlLe5AOF_fPNJBm_q3PuA3H2QSoeL-PeZeZI2LEF9JK28F6MjI0SYcYqWfv-e1iF78HRrXYDSHpD0XK-9KwBgaekk7SSREeqlNxsIvNYI6WmC-9xCrh4SyP6iTSN0LjyQHH9p8/s1600/DSC_0435.JPG" height="400" width="302" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was a really narrow strip of fabric with just two rows of chickens. So instead of doing big triangular bunting I decided to make this curved shape to get the most out of the fabric. I was able to use every hen with very little wastage this way!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7TTPAwjiwicPDDho9m1XNNTjgAS78fW5rFT8IpsWFFwZduEGYnRBYg2z_i69VaOjQxBzRb6QKaoItolCcog45E3-H0MCN3kAAwO77k14vISsYQn6MBB2kTpca_cNEQDIxBV6nV5S5ao/s1600/DSC_0436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic7TTPAwjiwicPDDho9m1XNNTjgAS78fW5rFT8IpsWFFwZduEGYnRBYg2z_i69VaOjQxBzRb6QKaoItolCcog45E3-H0MCN3kAAwO77k14vISsYQn6MBB2kTpca_cNEQDIxBV6nV5S5ao/s1600/DSC_0436.JPG" height="248" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Hope she likes it!<br />

Feeling ready for Halloween yet? No me neither! But all the fabric shops seem to be full of fun Halloween fabric!<br />
<br />
I have made a sweet little basket to collect sweets in for your keen trick or treaters!<br />

When I made it, I thought it was a bit too big, at about 8.5 inches wide, 6 inches deep and 6 inches high. But I was soon put right on that one!!! You need lots of room for chocolate and sweets apparently!!<br />
<br />
Think I might be making another soon!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Quite a while ago I saw this neat idea on-line of a Puppet Theatre that hangs from a door frame. So quick and easy to store and tidy up taking up little room as opposed to the ones that are based around a wooden stand.<br />
<br />
So I thought I would have a go at making one. This is the result!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijndwrrSDZ7bXvTRBfmFWcx5qh2xM_qzZsPw2I47n-h3EPVslarW-tJL5_evFDa84Q4X-hXFPjSbxnWj_fdpmQUg5B6c8ElSYr0emhlMg14YYUPo9VyrgxBXRpIPjxaydHaX6tyU378Hk/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Puppet+Theatre+TCN.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijndwrrSDZ7bXvTRBfmFWcx5qh2xM_qzZsPw2I47n-h3EPVslarW-tJL5_evFDa84Q4X-hXFPjSbxnWj_fdpmQUg5B6c8ElSYr0emhlMg14YYUPo9VyrgxBXRpIPjxaydHaX6tyU378Hk/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Puppet+Theatre+TCN.jpg" height="400" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
I love it. It's such a simple idea but looks so effective. I'm teaching this as a class over the coming weeks. We will get it to this stage in class but then I will give ideas on how to make it more personal. For instance you could appliqué on the words 'Puppet Theatre' or 'Name's Theatre'. Maybe add an appliqué of the happy/sad masks. Or a string of bunting etc.<br />
<br />

<span style="text-align: justify;">OK so I had seen a couple of cupcake oven mitt patterns on the market but to be honest I wanted one that covered the thumb as well as the fingers and both the ones I had seen only covered the fingers. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">So I decided to have a go and draft my own pattern. I've made a couple of these as the first one (Strawberry fabric below) I wasn't keen on the shape of my 'frosting'! So I tweaked it and now love it! Plus it's super cute in the pink apples fabric!</span></div>

I have just started to realise just how many crafty people there are living locally to me! Yay! One of them is a lady called Tamara McDonald who makes wonderful quilts to sell for charity. She is currently selling two, a masculine and a feminine. All profits raised from this will go towards a children's cancer charity, in this case it will be the Piam Brown ward at Southampton general, UK. </div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Made this cute little bag today for a class this week. The class is for Mothers and Daughters (or any combination of adult and child really!) I'm hoping it is straightforward enough for them but also with interesting features.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I've used webbing for the handles to keep things simple. But added a pocket for interest. They will also be learning how to make a lined bag.</div>

All I can say is WOW! This was my first time at a big quilting event and to say I was overwhelmed would be a massive understatement. Not only by the sheer volume of fabric stores offering their wares but also to the amazing talent on show with all the amazing quilts on display. Wasn't sure if I was allowed to take pictures but everyone seemed to be clicking away! So here are some of my favourites.<br />
<br />
This has to be my absolute favourite of the whole day:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7R9kB5VvWeJdXgNbGG5yKUXVjuSHF_HPfMcB3x-1baOLvS5vVGLMeon9ZglXji89HoJkA0WYTXrk-_P75CkAzykUP0LnSOTJjV2stMaDIkR_88U8rXmR5nqGF5XX7wZSfwCrc32qNn0c/s1600/IMG_4392.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7R9kB5VvWeJdXgNbGG5yKUXVjuSHF_HPfMcB3x-1baOLvS5vVGLMeon9ZglXji89HoJkA0WYTXrk-_P75CkAzykUP0LnSOTJjV2stMaDIkR_88U8rXmR5nqGF5XX7wZSfwCrc32qNn0c/s1600/IMG_4392.JPG" height="205" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I loved all that wonderful colour and idea behind the quilt, especially having been the outsider living in different countries for 10 years of my life. Loved the way it was quilted too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YunyTJDCIrwvkwpGDhpT7s2w-s5WMBtdvyGuIBLIiVl8bteEYX0soJf_owYo495ormD-awdOStSw3JCqFossapwO686T9C-WvlfmQtGx22ut1MuhacKwvjG3QICpUCwbcKtTqbpm7jo/s1600/IMG_4393.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8YunyTJDCIrwvkwpGDhpT7s2w-s5WMBtdvyGuIBLIiVl8bteEYX0soJf_owYo495ormD-awdOStSw3JCqFossapwO686T9C-WvlfmQtGx22ut1MuhacKwvjG3QICpUCwbcKtTqbpm7jo/s1600/IMG_4393.JPG" height="312" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Then in stark contrast is this wonderful piece of art, by Susan Chapman. I totally love the simplicity of the design work. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

And now onto the purchases. As I said it was a bit overwhelming to see so much fabric in one place! I could have spent so much more than I did, but apart from the odd indulgence, most of what I bought was bought with either class or market ideas in mind! So quite restrained I thought!! I have photographed it with the card of the shop I bought it from. Think my favourite shop for the selection of unusual fabrics has to be <a href="http://www.eternalmaker.com/" target="_blank">The Eternal Maker</a>. So pleased to hear it isn't that far from me! Might have to pay them a visit soon.<br />

OK so the last time I followed a dressmaking pattern was when I was 15 and that had limited success so I was a little apprehensive to give it another go. But we are 20+ years down the road since then and I do sew a lot so I figured I'd battle through!<br />
<br />
My daughter had picked out a pattern and fabric so off I went. I have made her bits and pieces over the years but never from a proper pattern you understand so wasn't really sure what all those little markings were for lol! But I figured it out as I went along. And this is what we made...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV1gbm_FRjqmLWd_rHnTentbkpww_lIYi1CmvcC2A4WktlKxdDOdRFAmaXgAvUQcaY8gOEAXYO3NroV1EwZVccSiEpeEnv9j6QRZQLsvCMufO9mXgygMSYpuOY0QwgaAtUmTt5CgfzzJ4/s1600/Jade+Top+2+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiV1gbm_FRjqmLWd_rHnTentbkpww_lIYi1CmvcC2A4WktlKxdDOdRFAmaXgAvUQcaY8gOEAXYO3NroV1EwZVccSiEpeEnv9j6QRZQLsvCMufO9mXgygMSYpuOY0QwgaAtUmTt5CgfzzJ4/s1600/Jade+Top+2+a.jpg" height="400" width="315" /></a></div>
A top and a belt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEFckHU-JqBzHh6a8YiocuvXQIBFoUdBM2qsid2GAtbbeaD9Ik1BYJpGTumv8cOBGO233oseiV5SNfo8aajBFtcCXRYZ2Amc8ZlZCLtyWIuo8Y18u9KfW7Aj5qjDUx3_T1GotQXHFbzF0/s1600/Jade+Top+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEFckHU-JqBzHh6a8YiocuvXQIBFoUdBM2qsid2GAtbbeaD9Ik1BYJpGTumv8cOBGO233oseiV5SNfo8aajBFtcCXRYZ2Amc8ZlZCLtyWIuo8Y18u9KfW7Aj5qjDUx3_T1GotQXHFbzF0/s1600/Jade+Top+3.JPG" height="400" width="236" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a Simplicity pattern: 2689<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images.patternreview.com/sewing/patterns/simplicity/2689/2689.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://images.patternreview.com/sewing/patterns/simplicity/2689/2689.jpg" height="320" width="284" /></a></div>
<br />
Not sure I'll be rushing to make the other items just yet. I was amazed how long it took me. Maybe it's because I wasn't familiar with using a dress pattern. I did feel a little restricted following a pattern. So, not sure it's really me! But I'm pleased I did it. Think we spent less time shopping yesterday for a heap of items than it took me to make this one!<br />
<br />
I did crack open the packet with the twin needle in it though and threaded that up for the first time to do a fancier hem than normal!</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Well I needed a relax in the bath after making this! You know how sometimes you just know you should switch the sewing machine off and go and do something else because you just keep making mistakes? Well this was one of those projects that should have taken me no longer than 2 hours start to finish but because of all the mistakes I kept making took more like 4 or 5 I lost count!!! Still I really love it!<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Have been busy working on my autumn class schedule but managed to squeeze in a bit of sewing for market! Have made three cushions. <br />
<br />
First up is a funky retro TV cushion. When I spotted that blue fabric I knew instantly that I wanted to make an appliqué to match! And so this cushion was born!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Love that you can pop the TV remote in between the button closures!<br />
<br />

I made this quilt a couple of weeks ago using fabrics from different ranges but most from a range called Happy Go Lucky I think, hence the title. The colours look really cheerful together and I think although I made it with a boy's baby quilt in mind, it's not really gender specific.<br />
<br />

After much deliberation I decided to do free motion loopy quilting. I was going to do wonky straight lines.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Have been super busy this week preparing for a local Artisan market I managed to get a spot at tomorrow. It's the Tweseldown Artisan Market near Fleet, Hampshire. It's a really wonderful market that takes place on the fourth Saturday of the month. And luckily for me someone cancelled! So I got their spot this month. I had really wanted my new collection to be totally ready but time has not allowed that to happen. But I thought I would share some of the lovely things that are ready and will be coming with me to market tomorrow.</div>

I've been busy making bags, trying to decide on a style for a class I've been asked to do entitled 'Easy Shopping Bag'! Well I have ruled some out for not being easy enough. Here they are anyway!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsBUmt3lUC-3JMw_gai_BHbr2tD_JDnpMiP1COeleX-tv-FseaPWFqMrfbQsbTLg96eBvKDMIkA8DOyzSBw2BCAbmS6ja0Jt9U2EvOZ7OsQHcYi2BcdnA8wvQgazQd39Q1O3hGohVXw7I/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Intermediate+Boxy+Shopping+Bag.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsBUmt3lUC-3JMw_gai_BHbr2tD_JDnpMiP1COeleX-tv-FseaPWFqMrfbQsbTLg96eBvKDMIkA8DOyzSBw2BCAbmS6ja0Jt9U2EvOZ7OsQHcYi2BcdnA8wvQgazQd39Q1O3hGohVXw7I/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Intermediate+Boxy+Shopping+Bag.JPG" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
<br />
The one above is definitely my favourite but would take too long for the scheduled class. So think I will go with the one below.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge_GJuMjQlPW6SLIDAxU_Yuw6X2D3lWbhGVVCmUcQd_-bq2aup1eJrw_jmSWcVcrOCrWzNFb0VlQECYSBeFwmVkTVnDVNT2FU-kwf6EjdSyxofqE0SzeGVdUZf-otzxZAC2ZTFDqu1jq4/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Easy+Shopping+Bag+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge_GJuMjQlPW6SLIDAxU_Yuw6X2D3lWbhGVVCmUcQd_-bq2aup1eJrw_jmSWcVcrOCrWzNFb0VlQECYSBeFwmVkTVnDVNT2FU-kwf6EjdSyxofqE0SzeGVdUZf-otzxZAC2ZTFDqu1jq4/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Easy+Shopping+Bag+1.JPG" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
<br />
This is along the same lines.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj1prNzpJ6OeK22O3-LQorRLTlLrjFAOB7c027ELSgmT_sJ9GryXK8LHT8BS2xhVFSxrmXBBbCJnMs2shIUfbyy24GDnkiz3Ksbz4ucGhXq8mIMlWPkHLucXWxP0Lt631fgLWloc0Khbg/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Easy+Shopping+Bag+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj1prNzpJ6OeK22O3-LQorRLTlLrjFAOB7c027ELSgmT_sJ9GryXK8LHT8BS2xhVFSxrmXBBbCJnMs2shIUfbyy24GDnkiz3Ksbz4ucGhXq8mIMlWPkHLucXWxP0Lt631fgLWloc0Khbg/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Easy+Shopping+Bag+2.JPG" height="400" width="385" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Not really sure about this one. Would take too long but was quite fun to make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I saw on Pinterest a while ago someone had used some vintage spools to make place cards. I thought it was a cute idea that would translate well to using as price tag holders for my market stall. I managed to find some that weren't massively overpriced and today set about making them all pretty!</div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
After considerable thought and chatting with my pudding club girls (that's a whole other story!), I have decided to introduce some new lines to my shop! So I have been playing around with fabric. I bought some of those flex spring clips and decided to make it into a glasses case.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVWyDzPmRzeqROIiW5EHtnrMJnzpWNm8ryRSRXnputtsyfji0KZ6eNMRTUK5bDAxEkHfs1k-1V4Vq4CRw-dJNGaAdem8WhYWLe8RClk6Txxs2zv-MVSeDwCGq3MyeDDCjLgqdyEQlel2M/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Glasses+Case+Named.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVWyDzPmRzeqROIiW5EHtnrMJnzpWNm8ryRSRXnputtsyfji0KZ6eNMRTUK5bDAxEkHfs1k-1V4Vq4CRw-dJNGaAdem8WhYWLe8RClk6Txxs2zv-MVSeDwCGq3MyeDDCjLgqdyEQlel2M/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Glasses+Case+Named.jpg" height="235" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I lined it with the same cerise polka dot fabric that I appliquéd the glasses on with. <br />
<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been busy sourcing oilcloth for an upcoming class making handy roll up chalkcloth placemats for kids. I've seen lots of variations of this idea. I knew I wanted mine to be made of oilcloth so it was easily wipeclean. This way the back can be used as a placemat once the food arrives! I also knew I wanted pockets for the chalk and a sponge to wipe off the designs and start again! So this is what I came up with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLiNBLfkHdqWXhPtFhietrgyYEPdToGRL9FiPq1uyoChhgZmOFXmb9wf61wYSNKjNvaGqiWGABv7VYOYSezyDQKdja8pRvAmSckpYrA9OPX4mPTKhSjtbA_IigeARtFiE5H2LGktSm8dI/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Chalkcloth+Activity+Mat+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLiNBLfkHdqWXhPtFhietrgyYEPdToGRL9FiPq1uyoChhgZmOFXmb9wf61wYSNKjNvaGqiWGABv7VYOYSezyDQKdja8pRvAmSckpYrA9OPX4mPTKhSjtbA_IigeARtFiE5H2LGktSm8dI/s1600/The+Crafty+Nomad+Chalkcloth+Activity+Mat+1.jpg" height="281" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The top pocket will hold a sponge and the bottom pocket is split into two to hold sticks of chalk.<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I managed to finish up the Petite Street baby quilt I've been making. The fabric line is called Petite Street and is by <a href="http://www.dashwoodstudio.com/collections/" target="_blank">Dashwood Studios</a>. You can get it locally to me <a href="http://www.naturesthreads.co.uk/" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://www.purple-stitches.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. I had split a fat quarter bundle with a friend so I had a set of fat eights and decided to cut two large squares from each to make the HSTs. I bought extra of the fabric for the binding and backing and used a white star blend for the rest.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love the modern and simple look this quilt has. Love how the quilting turned out. Will have to try to get a better picture as it is hard to see the vertical lines which give the partial grid look on the white triangles. I've popped it in the washer/dryer to fluff it up a bit! But maybe if the sun comes out tomorrow I might get some more pictures!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<span style="color: #cc0000;">[Edited to add these next two pictures to show you fluffed up loveliness!]</span><br />

You can definitely see those vertical lines in the fluffy pictures!<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I'm happy that all my points match up! Yay that was worth the extra effort.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It measures 40 x 40 inches, so it's great for baby/toddler or even a lap quilt. I had some unpicking to do as I didn't check my tension properly! Doh! But it took me about eight hours start to finish (7.5 if you don't count the unpicking!). I was hoping for 5 hours all in, so took longer than I thought.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I picked my favourite fabric from the range to put on the back. Who could fail to love those fluffy little clouds! And I think the pink binding is a really lovely contrast, both back and front.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So tell me quilters, how long would it make you to make this quilt? And if you make quilts to sell, what sort of hourly rate do you factor in? As this is the first one I'm considering selling, I could use your advice. Obviously I have my own ideas and I have done research on Etsy, but I was just wondering what your personal experience is. Thanks :-)</div>
