The Crafty Nomad Little Lady Freebie Challenge

Wow that was a mouthful!  I'm going to be away from the blog for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd post a freebie digital image and a challenge to go with it.

A couple of years ago I wanted a stamp to go on the back of my cards with Made by 'me' and my email address on too with a little lady like the Stamping Bella ladies.  I contacted them but unfortunately they didn't do customisable stamps.

So a dear friend of mine told me I should design my own.  I protested that I could not draw, but she encouraged me to have a go.  So I did and well this is what I came up with.  It was meant to represent me (Ha - notice the big behind!!!) I digress!  I got it made into a little stamp with the text I wanted and a big single stamp.  But I just realised I still have this as a jpeg.  And as I have been using a lot of digital stamps lately it occurred to me that this is exactly that!

I made this card with this little lady quite a while ago.

And so onto the freebie and the challenge.

[edited: Picture removed - thanks to those who took part - For those who missed out - the little lady is available to buy here or here]

To take part in the challenge I'd like you to create a card using this little lady and post it using Inlinkz below for us all to see.  As this is my first and probably, only challenge PLEASE make sure I get more than one entry - that would be embarassing!!!   Feel free to combine this with other challenges.

The challenge will close on the 16th August which gives you plenty of time.  So what are you waiting for!!  I'm thinking there should be some sort of prize......hmmm......

From Trash to Treasure!

I love the blog: How About Orange! There is always fun stuff on there.  Last week Jessica had a tutorial for making your own gift bags from newspapers.  They looked funky and what a great form of recycling.  As we currently live in a town with no recycling facilities, this appealed to me.  I had been hanging onto a mailorder catalogue from a UK company called Joules because it was no ordinary catalogue!  It had these really funky pages interspersed throughout it, a bit like magazine pages.  And so I decided to make a mini gift bag with one of them.  It measures 3 inches tall by about 2.5 wide and an inch deep.   If you decide to give it a go, I would advise setting your eyelets before you fold it and glue it together!

Thought it was quite apt that on the reverse side of the bag it has the word 'Upcycling'.  My daughter decided it would be good for Easter!

Have a great day today!

Busy Busy Busy

I AM busy crafting [promise] but nothing I can share at the mo! Sorry!  But I was excited yesterday as I recieved an order from Unity!! Check out these lovely lovely stamps!!  And some were as cheap as $4 in their sale.  Don't you just love that packaging!

Check out the store here and the blog here. Quite often they have sales for blog readers with a discount code to put it.  I joined their kit club as it gives big savings.  The stamps are wonderful quality too! I should be on commission!!!

Little Mermaid

Oh my goodness I was sorely disappointed when I realised I had missed the deadline for the Everything But the Kitchen Sink 'Aluminium Foil' Challenge, as I was half way through making it.  Oh well here it is anyway!

All images are freebie digitals (again! - you see, who says I can't budget!!).  The mermaid is from Pollycraft, the background and sentiment are from Meljen's.  I started by sticking some foil onto some card stock and printing the mermaid image twice onto the cardstock, once on the white part and once to come out on the foil.

I heat treated the ink to help it dry - still not sure that has actually worked though!  I carefully cut the tail and bikini top out and stuck them onto the white image, then coloured her in.  [I wish I'd coloured her in first as the ink on the foil ran when the blender pens touched it - and so now she looks like she has a muddy tummy!!].  Then I cut her out and put her aside until the rest of the card was ready.  For the second piece of foil, I covered a piece of cardstock, the right size, with some foil and then put it through the Big Shot using this big spots embossing folder, the card helps the foil retain it's embossed image.

Here is a close up:

I used the current sketch from 2 sketches 4 you, just rotated it 90 degrees.  This is also for the 'Flash your Freebies' challenge at Tales from Pollycraft and I thought I might pop it in for the challenge at the Pollycraft Challenge Blog which is Bold and Bright. And seeing as I have some Meljen's images in there are has lots of circles on it it is also being entered for their weekly challenge of using circles. It's also in for the embossing challenge at KL Stampin and Scrappin.  Almost forgot! The main reason for picking the mermaid image was for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge!

Just in case you missed it, I had a clear out of stamps and am selling some.  You can read about it here.  There is also a picture and a link in the sidebar.

Have a wonderful day.

Graduation

It has to be said that I LOVE a good bargain.  And even better if it's free!! [insert grin here!]  Lately I seem to have become addicted to freebie downloads, be it digital stamps/images or papers.  Today's card combines three free digital elements.

If you are like me and LOVE digital freebies try this website: Free Digital Stamps, it's fab and a great starting point.  Most of the places I shop for digital elements also giveaway freebies every now and then too.

I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions, just turned it upside down, and instead of the scalloped box I put my image in that spot.  The background paper was a freebie at Lindsay's atamp stuff and you can find it here - there are four designs in card size.  The boy/young man is from a wonderful blog called Sj's Little Musings.  I just love SJ's illustrations! There is a button on the sidebar where you can see all the past freebies in one place.  And finally the hat I popped on the young man's head is from the sentiment, just printed it bigger, and that was from Pamela's Gallery.  Unfortunately I just found out it's no longer free, but you can still get it here.

So finally here is the card.

Here is a side view.
Have a great day.

How's it Rollin'?

I loved this image when I got it in a Unity kit of the month.  But this is the first time I've used it.  It is sooo cute!  I've used the colour throwdown colours again. And the sketch is from Just Us Girls.
I popped a bit of shine onto that heart on the side.

Have a great day.

Donkey Smiles for Michelle

Here is my creation for the card drive for Michelle Oatman who recently had a bad accident which you can read about here.  You can take part here.

I used the colours from this weeks challenge at the colour throwdown, which incidently, have a fabulous array of prizes on offer this week!

Have a great day! Got a second card still drying, it'll be up later!

Clean & Simple Butterflies

Today's card uses the sketch at Clean & Simple and the colours are from the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World.

To start with I really wasn't keen on this card.  Then I added the little scalloped strip of pink and it completely changed the card! Now I love it, still a bit too clean and simple for me [no layers or stitching - I can see myself almost hyperventilating - LOL!!!].  I used my new embossing folder which I just love!

Here is a side view:

And here is the picture that inspired the colours, I think my colour print cartridge must have been going when I printed this as my printed one the blue vase was more of a pale blue, the cup was peach and the background was grey! Ooops!!  Oh well......
Have a lovely day!

TuTu Fun

Morning all.  Today's card is for a sweet little girl!  I've used the sketch challenge from Cas-tastic.  I just rotated it 90 degrees.  The ballerina image is from StampingBella - I think it is one of Lori Boyd's images.  I have paper pieced the dress, shoes and bow.

Here is a close up of the paper piecing.

I'll be submitting this for the Etsy Inspired Challenge, taking inspiration from these two photos at kimmieprout's etsy shop.  I'll also be submitting it for the PollyCraft challenge which was pinkalicious.

Well have a fab day.

Some New Designs....

I have been busy finishing up a card this evening but alas now the light has gone so the pictures will have to wait until tomorrow!

So instead I thought I'd share with you a couple of t-shirt designs I put together a couple of weeks ago for my friend Amna's little girl, Noor.  I just LOVED the way the crown turned out!

Such pretty little girls stuff!!  I'll be back tomorrow with the card.  Have a good day!

Owl Stack

Just a quick post today to share a card made using this cute free image from LilyBoo.  I thought it was supercute so had to make a card with it!  The colours I picked were actually based on some patterned paper I was going to use as background but then decided it was too busy!  That gorgeous ribbon is from Practicing Creativity.  I used the sketch from CPS.

Here is the card:
And a slightly closer up version:
That's it for now - see ya!
