Still playing with fabric!

Made this last night for my daughter.  Love the way it turned out.  The flower is actually a brooch that you can remove from the co-ordinating headband.  The headband has a hair elastic attached so it will fit different sizes.

Here's a close up of the flower.

Complete item.
Just the hairband.
This is what the back of the brooch looks like.
Thanks for stopping by today.  Let me know what you think.  I'd be interested to know what you think would be a reasonable price to pay for one of these (Aussie dollars) as I might sell them at craft fairs.  Leave me a link to your blog so I can come and have a nosy poke around!!  Have a great day!

I'll be entering this into some linky parties (links below), make sure to check out some of the other fab things people are making!

  1. I've never seen one made this way, but I sure love it! Your daughter is such a doll, and the hairband is fabulous! :)

  2. Very cool! Great colors, and I just love that the flower detaches, too. I can't speak for Australia, but I can tell you I nearly bought one at a US craft market for $15 that wasn't nearly as well made as yours (used a lot of hot glue, the size wasn't flexible/tailored as yours, no hand sewn beads, etc). I just wanted it as a sample so I could make my own later on...but I like yours much better!
I will say, and you are welcome to ignore me here, I think the value could increase even more if the felt backing matched the rest of the headband, or was covered in the same fabric. Don't get me wrong, it's fabulous as is, there is just something about standard felt that makes me see an items as "crafts" as opposed to "apparel"...and the apparel category usually fetches a higher price. Does that make sense? Like I said, feel free to ignore me, I honestly wouldn't be bothering to comment if I didn't think it was wonderful already. I appreciate objective opinions so I'm sending one your way: well done!

  4. Ohmgoodness this is such pretty headband! I love how the flower has layers and so much interest to it. The beads add a fun bit of sparkle and I like how you've made the size adjustable. Would love you to join me at A Crafty Soiree, every Thursday.

PS: I am not sure about the conversion to AUS $$ but I just bought a headband that was braided ribbon ontop of a hard handband shape that came with a flower hot glued onto a clippie which lets you take it one and off. T was not nearly as pretty and was ten US dollars.
