Wild Flower Color Challenge and Pink Elephant #55

OK, so this is the second post of the day, VERY unusual for me to post twice in a day!

I just made another card this for the Wild Flower Color Challenge and the Pink Elephant Sketch Challenge.  Hope you like it.  The colours are a bit off actually, so I'll replace them tomorrow when the light is better and add a close up to show the dimension too, as I cut some extra bits out (the flowers, wing and bag) and raised them up on foam tape. [ed. photos all changed now!] By the way the image is from Pink Petticoat and is a digital image.

Hope you like what you see here! Feel free to take a look around. I just moved my blog from Paper Pizazz and SoSewJo and merged the two together to create The Crafty Nomad.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to the first post on the newly named blog!

Hello folks. Well I hope you found me again after I moved my blog.  If you were following me please feel free to sign up again!

Today I have a card to share that was made using the Mojo Monday Sketch. Finally my nestabilities arrived: now that was an exciting day!!!!  I'm loving these bubble bath digital images at the mo from Pink Petticoat
Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fab day!

Another Clean & Simple Sketch Card!

Since making the card earlier this week for the Clean & Simple Challenge I decided I really like that look.  So I decided to go and have a browse through their old sketches. I love heaps of them! Today's card was made using sketch 78 as the starter point.

Thanks so much for looking. Have a great day!

Deb's entry for Get Sketchy

Yesterday I spent the day crafting with my friend Deb. We both worked on the Get Sketchy challenge (that's when I made the Bathtime bliss card in the previous post).  Here is Deb's super cute card.  I just love those colours together.

Deb is a bit of a craft all rounder.  After we'd made the cards we set about registering a blog name for her. She makes fabulous jewellery and was thinking for some time about getting an online presence - now she has one!  Be sure to go check it out here: PreciousDaze.

Bathtime Bliss!

Hi there! Don't you just love this image! It's a digital image from Pink Petticoat.

I've used this weeks sketch from Get Sketchy and a colour combination challenge from Just Us Girls.  I have to say I found the colour challenge a little difficult, the coral and the Raspberry together was definately a challenge for me!  Luckily my friend Deb had a piece of patterned paper that had the two colours together and that was enough to get me going! Thanks Deb.

I cut the bubbles out of a second image and raised them up on foam tape to add dimension, then added some dimensional magic and some glitter for a little bit of sparkle!  The rest of the sentiment is on the inside.

Might be uploading Deb's card onto here tomorrow for you all to see! Have a great day and thanks for looking!

Clean & Simple and Colour Q Challenges...

Hello! Today's card is for a friend who did me a favour and got a whole lot more than she bargained for! Hope she doesn't read this tonight!

Anyhow this card combined two challenges: the Color Q; and Clean & Simple.  This is my first time of entering the Clean & Simple challenge, because my cards aren't normally clean & simple! However I love their sketches and love the idea of a card not taking me forever to make! So I thought I would have a go!  The colour challenge this week of red, blue, turquoise and yellow normally would have said 'little boy card' to me, but I didn't need a little boy card and actually it looks cute with flowers too!

Here is the sketch and color inspiration:

Have a great day! Thanks for looking.

It's a Boy!

For three days this week I've been helping my friend Ali make 72 birth announcement / thank you cards for her beautiful baby boy! Isn't he adorable!  In the end we enlisted the help of more crafty friends.  Thank you Anick, Martine, Maryanne and Heidi!!

This card was based on a square card sketch from Mojo Monday. We were going to do it as a regular card size portrait, but when we printed the photo out we realised that really it would be too small and kind of lost on the card.  So instead we rotated it and did it landscape instead.  We added a tag to go behind the photo that has all the birth details on.

Here are all the cards en masse!
Have a fab day - I'll be posting again in a while with a challenge entry!

WooHoo I'm a Colour Queen!!

I just found out I was selected as one of the four Colour Queens over at the Color Q Challenge Blog! Very cool! So here I wear my badge with pride! This is the first time I've been selected for one of these blog challenges that I like to do so I was over the moon! And I loved this colour combination!  Check out all those other beautiful cards. I just love these challenges to see how different all the cards turn out!

This was my card:
This week I have mostly been working on some baby gift thank you cards with a friend, we are making 70 of them!!  Have a great day!

A little love...

I saw a cute idea on SewMamaSew just before Valentine's Day and decided to make some little hair clips for my daughter.  However we had a slight techical problem in that none of the glues I had at home would sucessfully bond the two plastics together! But today I have found special plastics glue and have now finishied them! Better late than never!

I covered some buttons with cute heart fabric, cut the shanks off and glued them to the hair clips! Easy peasy if you have the right glue!

Thinking of having a change around here, possibly a new name for my blog, possibly having one blog for both types of craft and possibly a new name for the etsy shop.....hmmmm thinking thinking.....

Have a great day!

Bochox (!) & OCC Challenge

Morning all! I had to share with you today one of the funniest bars of chocolate I have ever bought: Bochox! Click on the picture to check out the words! Hilarious!

Now for todays card! I feel like I haven't made a card for ages after just a few days off, I think it is because last week I made heaps! The mojo was flowing then! Anyways I used this weeks sketch from Our Creative Corner.  I paper pieced the little bird and added more plumes to the tail, I prefer it this way! My friend Deb gave me the birdie patterned paper last week and it's been sitting on my desk calling to me all week long! I just love the colours of those cute little birds!  Oh and no sewing on this card - today is a momentous day - I made a card without feeling the need to sew on it!

Here is the sketch.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day! Maybe I'll buy some more of that chocolate to make me smile!

Happy Valentine's

OK so we Brits (& Aussies I think) don't really do Valentine's Day to the extent to which it seems to be done in the US, but my daughter and I did a few bits and pieces for fun anyhow!

There were some really great free downloads listed on The Long Thread.  Some of which we have used for these fun little things!  You'll need to click on the picture to see it up close! They are a bit small I guess!

The wrapped up gift is some choccy wrapped in plain red tissue paper, it was all we could find! So we stamped it with silver hearts and added stickers and one of the cute images from Style Crush as a tag.  The other images from Style Crush (cards on the left) we'll dot around the house tomorrow for Mr Pizazz to find!  The little cards from Bunny Cakes we thought we would put inside the matchboxes (I printed them much smaller than was intended).  The matchboxes we made from scratch as it was quicker and cheaper than going to the shops to buy actual matchboxes! The idea was from Brooke Reynolds at Brides.  We made little matching cards to go inside too!  And filed with sweets.

We had lots of fun doing this and it has kept my daughter occupied for quite a while!  I also made hubby a little coaster which you can see here.  And have made something else for my little girl that I'll share on my sewing blog tomorrow.

Have a great day - and thanks for stopping by!

I love Sew Mama Sew!

If you haven't found it already you really should head on over to the Sew Mama Sew site and take a look at all the wonderful projects and inspiration.

Yesterday they posted a tutorial by Vicki which was so pretty.  I decided to have a go and make one for my hubby for Valentines Day for his morning cuppa!  I didn't have much time so I didn't do the patchwork, however I reckon it would have been quicker than the hand stitching of the letters, which I rarely do!  I opted for denim and red gingham, hopefuly that is manly enough! The denim was leftover from my daughter's jeans that I turned into a ra-ra skirt.

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think, with a link to your blog - I'd love to come and take a look at your blog too (I'm nosy like that!!). Have a great day.

Ooops I did it again...

Here's another belated birthday card, you might be seeing a few of these! It seems lots of people had birthdays in January whilst I was away!! And no-one told me!!

Today's card has been made using the Mojo Monday sketch. I turned it on it's side and elongated it!  I sat for ages puzzling over how to do the little white tag bit of the sketch.  Once I decided against cutting cardstock and using ribbon instead I was really happy with the result!  This card also uses the colour combination from the Colour Q Challenge - I loved these colours together.  I thought I'd also put it in The Cats Pajamas Guestbook too for the paper pieced owl!

As usual first my card then the inspiration pictures to follow.  Thanks for looking, have a great day.

Here are the challenges the sketch on the right I pulled into the shape that mine is! ; )

Oops - I missed it!!

I'm not so good at getting people's cards to them on time! And this one is no exception it seems!!  It will get to it's recipient soon.  I figured too much wine was a good enough excuse as any - even though I'm really NOT a big drinker: becoming a Mum put paid to that! ; )

I have made it using the Our Creative Corner Challenge Sketch and the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  What an amazing cake by the way!! I don't know about you but evey year when it comes around to my daughter's birthday I always have these grand ideas about making a fabulous cake and then when it comes to the crunch I chicken out and get one made!!

So here is today's card, with the inspiration pictures below. From the cupcake challenge I used the colours (Obviously) and also the polka dots as inspiration.  It's not such a good picture but the background purple is embossed with swiss dots.  I think you'll see it if you click on the picture to enlarge it.

Thanks for looking, let me know what you think, with a link to your blog - I'd love to come and take a look at your blog too (I'm nosy like that!!).  Have a great day.  By the way does anyone know of any sewing based challenge sites like these card ones?

CPS & PTI Challenges

Hello folks, thanks for stopping by today.  I've used the challenge sketch from CPS today for this little card. Their sponsor this week is Papertrey Ink - I just LOVE their stamps.   I made it to accompany a t-shirt I made for a friend (picture below).  I thought I had to use felt in the card so I added a piece of sparkly green felt to the card, but I think I may have misunderstood that! Anyway I like it there!  The image is not stamped! Is that a bit of a cheat?  It is a scan of the fabric I used to make the t-shirt, I just made it the right size printed it onto cardstock and punched it out!

It's a bit of an exciting time for me actually as I have just opened my Etsy shop selling t-shirts like this.  I've added a link to the sidebar if you're interested.  Now enough of that shameful plugging!

You can see a larger image by clicking on the image.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Space Alien Rocket Skirt

Here is another space rocket t-shirt like the one I made for little Brent.  A friend asked me to make this one for one of her friends.

Here is a close up!

And here is a little matching card I made to go with it!

I have now set up my Etsy shop (YAY) and a variation of these are in it! As are the Onesies - link is in the sidebar if you're interested - OK enough of the sales promotion!

Some more t-shirts!

Before Christmas, my friend Jodi asked me to make three  t-shirts for her and here they are.  The brief was "bright and colourful", "something beachy for the girls" and "animals for Tom".  And this is what I came up with.  Love the way the dolphins turned out.

Thanks for looking. Have a great day :) Oh by the way if you click on the picture you should then get a large version of it open up.

Mojo Monday #124 & Color Q #18

Good Morning! I just want you to know that I really, really struggled with this card!  Mainly I stuggled with the colour challenge - getting that yellow in was a killer!  When I saw it on the CQ blog it all looked gorgeous together but trying to make it work with my card was tough!  I loved the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I've used a stamp my friend bought me for Christmas, I'm afraid I don't know the brand.  I stamped it several times. Twice in white, one for the rectangle and then on the second I cut the girls out and raised them up on foam.  Then stamped onto the various papers to make the dresses, then paper pieced it all together.  I love the way it looks.  But I have to say it moved me out of my comfort zone working with a stamp that was essentially a real person instead of a cutesie drawing - I think that was the first time I've ever used that type of stamp! Thanks for taking me out of my comfort zone Lorraine I love the finished effect of this stamp!

Here is the sketch and colour challenge details for you to see.

Thanks for stopping by. :)

Cased Card!

I just cased (copied) the most beautiful card.  You can find the original card by Lea here.  Lea's blog, Lea's Cupcakes and Sunshine, is absolutely bursting with beautiful cards - go check it out.

Here are my two versions of it. I didn't read Lea's instructions until after though, so it turned out I did mine slightly differently! I made a mask of my little heart and then stamped over the mask, so the hearts are in one continuous piece of cardstock.  And obviously I didn't have the same stamps but I just LOVED the idea.

Thanks for looking.

Meet Felicity

Now I know that technically speaking she should be called Freya as that was the name assigned to the pattern.  But I didn't want to call her that (long story!) so Felicity was born instead!

This dolly took me three long evenings to make and was only finished at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve as a Christmas gift! Talk about cutting it fine!!

As I said this is the 'Freya' pattern from Melly & Me.  I just love their work, the colours are always so vibrant and fun.  I have used Darla fabrics from Tanya Whelan, which I just LOVE!  I made a couple of cards using the little swatches from her website. You can see it on my Papercrafting blog right here, (3rd picture down).

Two pictures for you on different backgrounds/lights, couldn't decide which picture was best so you got both!

Thanks for looking :).

Another Christmas Gift to share...

Remember the rocket t-shirt I made for my little nephew with his picture on? Well I made him a rocket toy to go with it!

If you are interested you can download the pattern from a wonderful blog called The Long Thread.  I absolutely love this blog, it is so inspirational! Thanks Ellen.

Get Sketchy #23

Here is my card for this week's Get Sketchy Sketch.  Now there is a story behind this.... but this card is actually going to be for my brother-in-law!! I know it's a bit of a girly image.  When we were visiting them last, my daughter was playing horses with him and he was (graciously) getting down on all fours and letting her sit on his back.  She started calling him "Shetty" (short for Shetland!) which we all though was hilarious! Anyway when I realised I had this digital image from Pink Cat Studio, that matched my daughter perfectly, she has plaits after all, I realised I had to make him this card!

Here is the sketch it was based on, I just flipped it.

Thanks for looking. :)
